Black Beauty

Our beloved “grandpa” Blackie has played an extraordinary role in our family. He was bought as a foal by our father as a gift for our parents’ 10th wedding anniversary, and from that moment on he became a truly special part of our lives. He began his sport career with our mother and competed with her until the age of ten. Afterwards, he became Suraya’s junior horse, and together they immediately achieved strong results with scores around 70%.

Unfortunately, their promising start was interrupted when Blackie needed a severe colic surgery, which kept him out of competition for more than six months. Thanks to his incredible strength and willpower, he recovered remarkably well. And he came back even stronger: with Suraya he earned two silver medals and one bronze medal at the Belgian Championships in the Young Rider and U25 Grand Prix divisions.

Blackie is a truly exceptional horse — not only because he has been with us for 18 years, but also because of his remarkable resilience. Throughout his life he faced serious health challenges such as colic surgery, asthma, and issues with his lungs and digestive system, yet he always gave everything and continued to perform successfully at both national and international level.

Today, Blackie enjoys a well-deserved retirement, still cherished every day for everything he has given us.
